If it hasn't been obvious enough, I've been very reluctant to post or create anything. The trouble has been keeping enough enthusiasm to keep working on a piece, so they often die at the thumbnail stage.
So, I have a couple of questions:
-How do you come up with ideas for a piece?
Do you listen to music? Go for a hike in the woods? Ride the bus? etc...
-How do you start a piece?
Do you plan the image in your head before starting it? Do you scribble some lines and then just see where it takes you? etc...
-How do you keep inspired while working on a piece?
Do you listen to music, watch television, talk on the phone, etc...
-When do you feel that a piece is 'done?'
Do you have it peer-reviewed? Do you set an end time for the piece being done? etc...
Just curious, since I'm feeling rather uninspired as of late.
As far as how I'm doing, I guess there's no real problems to complain about, just typical teenage angst. College'll be out for the quarter next tuesday, the 9th. Time for sitting around again.
Woo-hoo >>
Devious Comments
Often from other pieces and stuf around me, photos, shows, etc.
-How do you start a piece?

-How do you keep inspired while working on a piece?

"Death to those who seek my life; oblitaration to those who seek the lives of the ones I love... even if it costs my own. Thus is the oath of the Guardian..."
~That'd be me, Hethkar, the Guardian Wolf.
A combination of "Artfag" music and drawing inspiration from real life experiences. That's for SRS STUFF and things that break my usual artistic boundaries, though. Most of my ideas come from either just thinking "Oh, that'd be cool to draw" or the intention of creating some sort of (Humorous or otherwise) social commentary.
-How do you start a piece?
SKELETAL FIGURES. If I'm going to do extensive planning I normally sketch a few things in The G.I.M.P. 2, in my sketchbook or publicly on [link]
-How do you keep inspired while working on a piece?
Skype, music, and chat clients for "Background Entertainment" so I won't go "OH IM BORED FUCK THIS" if I screw up :1
Having a large supply of cheeze-its helps at this stage, as the drawing process is hard work and makes me hungry for fatty foods.
-When do you feel that a piece is 'done?'
When the figures, lineart, coloring and background etc. are finished and the picture looks anywhere from the "Alright" to "Great" range (Comparative to my own skills, of course.)

Disregard that, I suck cocks.
Ok, how do I come up with an idea?
Well really its hard to explain, theres no definate way, but really an idea will just hit me, maybe its an upcoming real life event, something I watched on TV,m and half the time I just wake up, and a few minutes later its there, but other days my mind draws a blank
I usually start a piece by first looking up for refs if I have to, then I startby doing some doodles to figure out what poses might work best, then I practise some more doodles of expressions, objects int he pic, etc...Then when Im satisfied I go for it.
To keep inspired, the best thing to do is NOIT fight back when youre not feeling very artistic or inspired, in my opinion giving it a break will bring back the inspiration faster
And I never know when its done, I always see mistakes I wish I didnt do xD But once Im frustrated with finding reversable mistakes, I consider it 'done'
Hope that wasnt too long and that it help x3
